Hi,

I am usually one answering questions on here, but I have one myself, and wanted to see what other Macrumors members have had luck with.

I have a keyboard that has a strange issue, and I would like to get it replaced under warranty. The keyboard came with my dual 2.0 G5 I purchased in Aprial of this year. It has an issue that requires replacement (Top row letters and number row do not work).

What are my options, can I just walk into the apple store and get a replacement keyboard? Or do I need to file a claim online first, since I bought it from the Apple online store?

Thanks for any help!

If you go to the apple store, you can talk to a genius aboot it. They may ship it off to be fixed, or just give you a new one. I'm guessing they'd give you a new one, because you can't really go without a keyboard, ya know?

If the apple store is close enough, I'd go and bug 'em about it.

just go in and complain! warranties are dumb for things unless its like autombiles or a full computer. But if you go in and complain and get really mad there gonna have to make you happy and they most likley will do it for you, alot of warranties are scams, I didnt have a warrantie on my monitor for dead pixels well i complained a good bit and gort mad with the manager sure enough the took it back and gave me a new one!

Yes, the easiest thing would be going to your local Apple Store. Then you can get a new one right on the spot. My wife has been pleased with the service.

A fourth reccomendation to stop by an Apple Store.

The Geniuses are almost always very helpful (in my experience), and work to make you happy. For something as simple as a keyboard, it may be a 15minute appointment.

Which leads me to wonder if what you mean by "register claim online" is really "scheduling a genius bar appointment". I would, most definitly, schedule an appointment ahead of time. They get busy very rapidly, and you wouldn't want to make the drive for nothing.
