Just like the title says... how did you find the site? Stumble across it while surfing the web? News article? Friends?
Just wondering how we all wound up here :D
Personally, a friend showed it to me right after I got my first iMac, way back when.

Found it while trying to find out when the next iBook update would be..came across the site with all that information listed. A day later I noticed the forum link, lurked for a week or so, then finally joined when I was ready to make my order.

Came across it when searching for info about Mac Mini's and working out if I should wait for an iBook update around January time.
Well, as I discussed in this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=123053), I was introduced by my brother. Bastard. Now I'm hooked. :D

My older cousin said I had a lot of questions he couldn't answer and told me to check out a few different sites. I liked MR better than Appleinsider and I forgot which other sites he listed. Mm hmm, then I saw the Forums link, and I was terrified because the car forums I have joined are massive, sprawling, overgrown, useless wastes of bandwidth. But much to my relief and pleasure, MR forums are so neat and well moderated. I can actually post a question and receive relevant, useful, helpful answers. :D

i don't remember what it was that i was searching for but i was having trouble with something (i'm still sort of a mac newbie, especially by comparison to the lot of ya) and the answer to my question appeared in a thread here. i was stunned by the sheer volume of help and interesting people, so i stuck around ;)
Mentioned to a Mac nut i was thinking about getting a Mac after seeing his Ti 'book and he suggested to check out MacRumors and follow any rumors about new powerbooks since thats what I wanted. Followed it very heavily and bought a 15" Pb Rev. A the morning they came out, turns out MacRumors was so right that I woke up early that morning 6 am and bought the computer at 7!

I actually was a visitor to MR before there were forums. I would alternate my Mac news from a variety of sources. Then, one day, I noticed that MR had introduced forums! I nabbed my username, but really didn't realize how much of an early-adopter I was to these forums. My user ID is 540... And according to Doctor Q, I'm one of the very, very few active members from that far back.
Long live MR! :)

Our IT guy and another of my co-workers told me about it. We're all fortunate enough to use Macs daily on the job, so it helps out from time to time.

a friend recommended it to me when we were younger, he is a mac zealot who is much more interested in the "political" aspect of the apple community. Stuff how ms will end the world and PC users have some hidden agenda to cripple world economies with some crazy virus that mac will be immune to. He actually doesnt know how to do much with his mac, meaning no photoshop no fcp or imovie and no garageband or soundtrack. Its just fun conspiracy theory for him. Very odd i think.

My boiler plate response.
A long time ago I found Macrumors through the good people at 91FM Philadelphia. They had a show called the CompuDudes who offered free tech support on the air. They had a news section in their program and they mentioned Macrumors in reference to a rumor related to the G4 Cube. I logged on using my Performa 6300, found the forums and 4 years later the rest is history.

I think I was searching for Macintosh forums via Google. A friend and I were in the market for switching for about 8 months before we bought our laptops. We both joined MacRumors and read it often for opinions and info on Macs. Damn happy we did! ...find MR and Macs, that is!

An Administrator in Apple Discussions pointed me here, after docking me 30 points for posting a "rumor" (I believe I alluded to a Panther update, which came out the following day...this is anathema in there), so I drug my thought processes out of the box and in to here. Though I appreciate and see the need for monitoring threads, I also appreciate the relative freedom in here to at least enjoy laughter along with good information, along with the lattitude to decipher whether or not that information is just rumor or fact. Kudos to MR.

Google, I believe. I was thinking about buying a Mac, so I searched around for info and I guess MR came up in of those seaches.
Made my first thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=37099), with questions (after searching of course ;)).
Of historical note, I didn't end up buying anything, until later when I bought a used PM G4 on a online action site (and even later, a PB G4).

I found it through Google while researching a Powerbook purchase and lurked for a while. Then used it mainly as a troubleshooting resource for a while and then decided that since I'd learned so much about my Mac, that it was only fair that I returned the favour and helped others troubleshoot... which means you hang around more.... and then you find the current events and community forums... and then your post count goes through the roof.... :o

I came here over a year ago. I was a regular at another Mac forum, where one particular guy had a habit of baiting a few people he didn't like. At some point I joined his list. Since this guy was a moderator, I doubt it would have done much good reporting him.
I sent a private "goodbye" PM to a few of my favorite posters there explaining my position, got back some very nice responses, and disappeared quietly.
Then I Googled "Mac forums" and found this place. I lurked a bit, liked what I saw, and joined only a day or two after leaving the other forum.

Had to do something at work. :p
I was unhappy with some (all) of the other sites out there. Typed in MacRumors as a variation of MacOSRumors (which it only took a few viewings to realize what a joke that site was). MacNN started sucking, some of the other sites were badly done or poorly moderated, filled with trolls or overzealous mods. Watched this site for like a year before posting. Gave me some thing to do when I was unemployed too (I temp'ed a lot, lots of issues with girlfriends, etc). Barely ever even look at most of the others now, this site is a good place to find whatever's out there.
Political forum started getting fun around the last election too. ;)

I first became interested in Macs back in 2002, and started surfing the rumor sizes, starting with some of the more well-known sites. I first started posting at MacNN. It got really boring there, so I left after a short time, and went to post at SpyMac. That place sucked, so I left. Sometime along the way I found MacRumors. I started lurking around, and found it's an awesome place, the best forums I've ever been at, alongside www.gonegold.com (the site went down last year). I started posting, and became an active member ever since. This is the only Mac-related forum I post (or even read regularly) in, and the only one of two forums I frequent (the other being www.consolegold.com, where I and many other former GG'ers ended up after the sudden and unexpected closure. That day sure did suck).
MacRumors, don't you dare do that to me! I love it here, and I don't know what I'd do if I suddenly found MacRumors gone.

I was doing a Google (or Yahoo) search on Rhapsody and came across a thread here that had some of my screenshots in it. The people in the thread were questioning if the shots were real because I had changed some of my app icons and the dates in the shots were from 2003 (I guess those members never thought anyone would still be using Rhapsody that long).
I joined to correct what had been said in that thread and have been visiting every so often ever since.

I believe I came across MR on Apple's support MB (which is horrible btw) trying to find some relatively unbiased advice on a powerbook purchase.
When I joined I planned on just signing up to get the advice I needed then leave. In the process I ended up getting hooked and now here I am.

I don't remember how I came across this site it was that long ago (Spring 2004). I could have been searching for info for something, but that is just a guess. I didn't join until August 2004. My first post was when my iPod arrived before my PB. My one year anniversary is today. :D
By the way this reminds me that I need to purchase AppleCare since the one year deal will end in a couple of weeks.
