my new ibook broken???

help, I powered on my ibooy from shut offf and I hear the "da dum!" welcome sound but after that nothing happens....whats going on???

I tried restarting witrh the comand and ctrl power button and manual shutdown by just holding the power button...but nothing is working.

Wow that was weird...I unplugged my usb mousefrom the usb port and restarted again...now it's working...sigh window was so much more simpler. Did I do any damage by doing a manual shutdown? (holdin down powerbutton)

oh yea, I plugged in the mouse when I first got it, it auomaticsallly worked no drivers required. I left the mouse in the usb port when i shut it down. Are macs so fragile that i have to disconnecrt everything before I shut down and powert up?

Don't insult macs if you want me to help you out.

In fact, macs are so strong that you don't have to shut down and power up at all. Just close the lid (put it to sleep) when you're not using it, or leave on if running on AC power.

I suspect that the problem is incorrect drivers (despite the fact that the mouse worked when you first plugged it in), unless it's a mouse made by Apple. Try doing a google search for "mousemodel drivers" obviously replacing mousemodel with your mouse model.

Scratch that Windows comment, buddy. Windows freaks out all the time when something is plugged in it doesn't like.

No, that shouldn't happen. I would give Apple a call and ask them what they think about it. You don't have those 90 days of free phone support for nothing.

Stick with it, and after a few days, you'll wonder why you ever used Windows.

I've never had it happen, and I use a mouse with my iBook all the time. Like it was said earlier, don't shut it down, put it to sleep.

alright sweet. I appreciate the help guys. I guess I'll just continue uising the ibook normally and if anything weird happens I'll call up apple support. Hopefully this is just a one time thing.
