Hi all, I'm new here

Is it worth it to upgrade to Mountain Lion? Right now I'm running Snow Leopard on a 24-inch 2008 iMac with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I've heard from some people that it's a great system, but others have said that it's not much of an upgrade. Should I make the move or stay put?

Thanks,
Alex

Alexbazeley,

I'm running the same iMac, but with the 3.06 GHz CPUs. Have run Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, and Mountain Lion. Unless you have a distinct need to upgrade, stick with SL - it's the best of the bunch.

There's nothing earth-shattering in ML, but I like to upgrade to see what the new offerings are like. I like Dictation and Notification Center most so far, although NC needs to be used by alot more apps to really be useful (without 3rd party help).

ML runs great on my system (late 2011 MBP), so I'm glad I upgraded. I think it's worth 20 bucks.

i loved snow leopard, then lion brought the simplistic launch pad that works very well and also multiple desktops, again great.

mountain lion brings us notifications and a new sleaker dock, its more cosmetics but i absolutly love Mountain Lion, its faster, sleaker and just brilliant :-). i live in the UK and if i still had Snow Leopard and wanted to upgrade directly to Mountain Lion, 13.99 is a no brainer tbh.

only thing to watch out for is if u have any old PPC software you use, then thats the only reason to stick with snow leopard imo

I think you'll be happy upgrading to Mountain Lion. With all the many new features, you'll find something that you're happy about. I haven't noticed any of the battery problems that I've been reading about, so I can't testify towards that, but it's definitely worth the 20$. It's what Lion should've been. As much I loved Snow Leopard, Mountain Lion has brought back the memories of a great OS.
