Ok so somehow I dragged icons and apps onto the menubar, but now that I have deleted them off the hard drive, I can not figure out how to get rid of them off the status bar and this is quite annoying.

By "status bar" do you mean the Menu Bar? If so, try holding the Command key and dragging them off. If they're left over from a deleted app, you probably have traces of the app remaining on your drive.

The most effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:
Best way to FULLY DELETE a program (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11171082&postcount=16)

Rather than using Dropbox, take a screen shot (http://guides.macrumors.com/Taking_Screenshots_in_Mac_OS_X) and post it (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=14126379&postcount=16).

Ahem:
In most cases, app removal software doesn't do a thorough job of finding and removing files/folders related to deleted apps. For more information, read this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=12527023&postcount=6) and this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=14595541&postcount=21). If you just want to delete the app, drag the .app file to the trash. No other software needed. If you want to completely remove all associated files/folders, no removal apps will do the job.
