Apple has launched the "Holiday iPod Offer," which reduces the price of custom engraving on the back of an iPod to US$19.95 (previously $49) through January 7, 2003.

I think they should keep it this price, the engraving is really cool but it adds 50 bucks to the already expensive price tag, at least some people can save during the holidays.

well, that's assuming you're ever going to want to sell it? This is aimed at getting people gifts most likely. Although, I do agree with you on the tacky part - not for me.

That's like saying having the watch you just bought your girlfriend engraved is tacky, many people give these things away as gifts you know, and hey, if you have your name on it people are less likely to steal it, like your underwear.....
ok that last part was a joke but still, it's not tacky.
