I'm sure that title makes it sound like a feature - but that's pretty much all I've noticed with 10.8.

After upgrading from Lion, 10.8 has been displaying the beachball of death at least four times a day, causing a force reboot.

The reboot takes around 5 minutes. It then shows the 'You shut down your computer because of a problem' screen, which, even then, is not quite as responsive as it probably should be.

There are no panic logs, no crashreports, no nothing. I've left it in its frozen state for around 8 hours once, with it still in totally the same situation later.

My MacBook (2.26GHz, 9400M, 13.3") is well within the required specs.

Any ideas, guys?

(Disk Utility checked out fine too.)

That's my Macbook model (13 inch, mid-2009, 2.26). Mine works perfectly fine with ML. Start by doing a memtest on your RAM, I think one of your sticks is faulty and causing a total system lockup.

If that checks out fine, clean install ML. Don't upgrade from Lion.
