Macs: If you could provide an idea/request to Apple Engineering, what would it be?

I'd like to see Apple include an integrated Card Reader in Macs. I really don't like having to hook up my camera via a USB cable to download pictures.

If you could offer an idea or request a feature for Apple to include in a Mac what would it be?
 
Widescreen 12" laptops

As for card readers i can't say i agree for 2 reasons:
1. They look ugly
2. there are so many different types of flash media out these days; memory stick,SD card, XD card etc that how would apple pick which one to intergrate maybe they could intergrate all of them but that would be seriously ugly and space consuming...

I don't want the extra weight/space that a card reader would take up either for exactly the same reason - which cards do you go for? I have a couple of readers for my PCI slot on my Powerbook which does make life easier but I like the flexibility rather than having multiple slots there permanently.

What I'd like to see is a mini-tablet area on the wrist pad area of the Powerbook and a stylus hidden in the side somewhere. If I've got the Powerbook on my lap, I don't have space for a Wacom tablet - having one built-in would be awesome...
 
So long as it doesn't create bulk or damage asthetics..
Fuel cells for the portables.

From what I've heard, they're still unwieldy to refuel; but I think this tech will improve rapidly and change the portable market in the near future. It would be awesome if Apple could iron it out early-on to make it hip and seamless.
 
Customizable lid/casing for the iBooks making it easy to personalize it (not unlike all those changeable covers you get for a lot of mobile phones).

If there were a way to design your own, all the better... 🙂

Swiveling laser turret that mounts on top of the iBook and connects via Firewire, like an iSight. I guess I'd want it in white, but I'm willing to compromise for Aluminum if it dissipates heat more readily. 😀

maybe you missed it but you might want to check out the mighty mouse

or maybe you want them to bundle it with macs...yah that might be a good idea *cough* apple..

Put a serial port on the powerbooks. It's the only thing that is currently stopping me from getting a powerbook right now. Only reason I need to have it is to connect to routers/switches on their console port.
 
easily removable HD

On my Powerbook - An easily removable harddrive like my old Dell Insperon has. That way when the computer goes in for service, I just pull out my HD!

You mean a 9-pin DSUB? 😱 Please god, for the rest of us, no. 😛 😀

I guess though, what works works.... Are serial ports even common on Windows notebooks anymore? And can't you get some kind of USB adaptor that would be relatively low-impact?

I wish they could come up with some way for me to listen to my music on the go. Hmmm.... 😀

But seriously, better graphics card support.

Sorry but to be super efficient it will have to be in matt black, white would be the worst in dissipating heat, but on a more positive note white would be better in reflecting any radiating waves of energy 🙂 .

True, but I think if I cared about super-efficiency over style, I wouldn't choose a Mac to go underneath my swiveling laser turret! 😛

Now I'm trying to remember what the exterior casing on the higher powered air cooled lasers in my old lab looked like... 🙄

I want a blue laser beam, though, to match the lights on my phone. *goes to pick out the right lasing material*

I don't want a skin, and colorware is nice, but very permanent... I want to change it at a whim... 😉

Wasn't there some rumors about a patent for a customizable casing, that could be changed with software...?
 
Yeah, they should engineer us some lower prices.

But I'd also settle for more frequent updates.😉

Seriously, though, I'd love to see a BookMini at $599. And one of those super-keyboards where the keys are all mini-OLED screens that can change into whatever configuration you'd want.

I think it'd be cool if they released a Pro keyboard that could do that, and have a built-in click wheel like the iPod, to be used as a jog/shuttle controller for Final Cut Pro and other programs. That'd be cool.
