I upgraded my 9600 pro 64MB to a 9650 256MB and man what a difference a little bit of video ram makes. I was going to get an x800 but decided not to drop that much money into a video card. I won the 9650 off ebay for 30 bucks shipped. I can play quake 4 full settings and 2x anti aliasing at 1280x1024 with wonderful framerates. What graphics card do you have in your mac and how does it perform?? :D:apple::D

I'm rocking a GeForce FX5200 w/ 64mb VRAM on my G5, it's a nice little card for anything light and breezy. I get massive slowdowns when trying to do anything heavy however. Like you I am hoping to get myself a 9650 - they seem to be the best bang for buck AGP card for the G5.

On my PowerBook I have the (awesome) mobility radeon 9700 w/ 128mb VRAM. Awesome card, can do pretty much anything I want on there no problems, was only available on the BTO's I believe?

And the DL Powerbooks standard (wish I could find a good/mint condition one dirt cheap/free) .

Yeah I would go for the 9650, I was skeptical before I bought it but man, even 10.5.8 runs smoother. It's is a good card for the price. Plus you can run the 30 inch cinema display.

I a Mac X800 in my G5. Drives my 23" ADC very well. The FX5200 I had in there could drive it as well, but it didn't like games very well.

My 128MB 9800 Pro can throw down any game I choose. Except Amnesia: The Dark Descent, because there is a graphical issue within the game with 9800 series cards. I can't even start the game due to that issue. I have to force restart (hold the power button) my computer if I start the game because it causes my machine to hang up completely and I cannot return to my Desktop/Finder.

I got the 6800 Ultra and I have no problem with running the game that I play on my G5 which is only warcraft III. Drives on a 22' @ 1680 X 1050
