I don't know if the span doctor hack I downloaded was the cause of this but I'm beggining to notice that the text on my ibook seems to be kinda blurry on the edges like there's some really bad antialiasing going on. Hoe does one make it sharper?

Have you tried system preferences -> Appearance? There's a few options in there to adjust the system settings for text on LCDs vs CRTs. It also allows you to turn off smoothing below a certain font size 🙂.

There's also an option in System Preferences/Universal Access to increase the contrast, but I'd start with .Andy's suggestion.

Calibrate the LCD... it should help some.

The factory profile isn't universal for all LCDs in a production run.

Download TinkerTool free and turn off font smoothing altogether if you hate antialiasing.
