Hey everyone,

I've noticed on my MBA, the sound when I use headphones through the 3.5mm jack has a background static / other "noise".

This is only an issue on AC power though, as soon as I'm on battery, the noises go away.

Is my left I/O board flawed?

Strange. I would take take it in to an Apple store to have them look at it. Any static noise when using built-in speakers? Or have you tried other headsets to see if the same thing occurs? Apple will ask these things, in an effort to rule out possible causes.

I will try another outlet, away from your current, say the office see what happens. Never discount bad wiring at your place (reversed polarity, noisy/old wires etc) but for the for most part this shouldn't happen.

So much as above, could also be LACK of grounding. Try a grounded outlet, like kitchen or washroom one
