OS X and Mouse Acceleration
OS X has a real problem with mouse movements. This problem is well known, and yet Apple has not addressed this issue. I'll try to explain what the problem exactly is: when you want to go from i.e. one menu item to the other, the acceleration is way too slow, and you end up clicking the item where you left. Okay, so you try to move a little longer, but then the acceleration kicks in and you end up clicking another wrong item!Boy I hope Leopard corrects the mouse acceleration problem that should have been fixed once Mac OS X version 10.1 was released.

Of course you could also say it's the way the mouse worked since 1984 and it's perfectly allright.

Of course you could also say it's the way the mouse worked since 1984 and it's perfectly allright.Yes but alright isn't perfect and perfect is the only thing that is alright with me. So I am dissatisfied since it isn't as perfect as it should and could be. It is sad because mouse acceleration is one of the only things that Windows does better than OS X. Come on Apple you can beat Windows (or at least make a comparable update) on this one.

to be honest, i do not seem to understand the problem or the "problem" seems to be not that big for it to bother me.
would it not be possible to to go an Apple store and show this problem to one of the employees or genius, so they could document the problem and hopefully, get it "fixed" faster?

I have the BT Apple mouse and I don't know if this is the "acceleration problem" you all are referring to, but this mouse is terribly inaccurate. Nothing to do with the surface the mouse is on because I've tried several different mouse pads and surfaces, but it's nothing like my optical mouse for the PC.
I've noticed, though, that even in the QuickTime videos on Apple's website for Mac OS X, whoever was controlling the mouse had to move it rather slowly to obtain decent accuracy when choosing an item from a menu or clicking a particularly small area of the screen.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about or should I just shut the hell up?

The slow movements in the video is of course just for the sake of clarity. I have lot's of mouses (apple pro, apple bluetooth, microsoft, logitech) on different OS X versions, and don't have the problem at all. Maybe it's personal? Maybe it's because I always switch off the acceleration because it gives me RSI, also on Windows and Linux.

My perception is entirely the reverse of yours. I find Windows' mouse tracking to be totally out of whack with my expectations. My Mac mouse pointer always goes exactly where I aim it (unless the mouse itself is dirty, of course).
It's easy to move the pointer in a smooth circle on my Mac. I cannot do it with Windows unless I slow my hand's motion to a crawl -- even using a trackpad, which should make it trivial.
