anybody else unable to put macbook to sleep

I dont know if its mountain lion related but I'm on 10.8.1 and I can't get my macbook retina to sleep from a cold boot. It would freeze.. and when I try energy saving preferences , the display just wouldn't turn off and the mouse cursor freezes. BUT it works when I restart the computer. I even reinstalled the os but still the same
