im running iTunes 10.6.3 (25) 64 bit on mountain lion 10.8.2, and after about 4 songs while using firefox, the computer will freeze with the mouse still useable and music playing but unable to do anything but hard restart. anyone having this problem? and what would you suggest I do? re-install iTunes ?

Having a similar problem... I upgraded to iTunes 10.7 and no fix.
Happens during downloads now too (downloads of purchases in iTunes)... and not only does Finder stop responding it plays havoc with my external hard drive too.
Can't shut down normally... have to do the power-hold to shut down and start over.
This just started after the 10.8.1 update for me, I think.
