View Full Version : Sharing with iDVD

I have been playing around with some home video and trying my hand at creating some dvd's but I have run into a little problem. The video is one hour long and has no transitions, just straight video. I clicked file>share>iDVD. Set up my menu in iDVD and clicked burn to DVD. It says the file I am trying to burn is too large and to insert a double layered disc. Am I not doing something right, or is there an easier way to accomplish what I am trying to do? Any tips or tricks would be very handy.

You may have the quality set for best quality which can only do 1 hr of video so if you are just a little bit over you can't fit it on the disc. You can change that setting in the preferences to the lower (but still good) quality setting to get more video on the disc.
And remeber that you menus and everything take up room on the disc too. So even if you are just inder 1 hr it may be too large with everything on there.

"Best Quality" still should be able to fit a one hour video onto a DVD.
Here is a suggestion, though it is a bit of a pain.
Create another DVD: just select a theme and don't bother doing anything to it. Drag your movie from the "media" area to the theme. Now go to "Status" and see if the capacity will be OK.
A week or so ago I was creating a new DVD and somehow the movies had been added twice. I have no idea how this happened, and the program did not show that the movies are being duplicated. It made no sense to me, so I just started another project and everything was fine.
If, after checking status, it shows that it exceeds the capacity of a DVD then you will be forced to change to "Best performance".
