hi guys,

just reporting in with some evidence of how awesome bf3 can be on a retina macbook pro!

here's a youtube video of a recorded game from earlier today for you guys

settings:
1650 x 1080 (in-game res and native res on the desktop)
game graphics on lowest possible
using the program 'dxtory' to record, really great to optimize performance
recording to a 64gb 90mbs sdxc card
premier pro cs6 on mac side to export in flv to youtube

without recording i get around 60 - 70 frames, and with recording usually 55 - 65 frames... either way it's smooth!

this is just an info thread, but i'm so in love with this machine! ^^

Dude, I played BF3 same settings on a 2008 MBP with a 9600GT!?
(screen resolutions on 1280xsomething)

I had only 20-30 fps and in heavy situations they dropped even lower, but your rMBP should be able to handle more, don't you think?

Now I'm playing it on my Mac Pro with a GTX 570 on Ultra (1920x1200), with about 50 fps :D
Huge difference, I can tell...

Do u have to justify your MacPro costs to yourself or why so rude to a newbie's first post at MR El Awesome? :D

Wonder how I'm gonna play on the rMBP though. 256GB is little space for Bootcamp..

What? I paid 1300$ for the MP and 600$ for the GPU, so I get 1900$. I guess thats less than you paid and I bet I have way more (but stationary) power ;)

I just thought the rMBP should perform significantly better than my MBP 2008.

No offense man, just found your comment kind of harsh..I'm perfectly fine with your station being powerful :)
And if you pay less = better for you.
But didn't I pick up a comment somewhere stating "El Awesome couldn't understand why his 2009 MP performed worse in a CPU-demanding game than a MBPr." ;)

But still, please don't take this too serious, isn't meant that way! Cheers!

Haha there you got me dude ;)

No worries dude, I guess it's my bad english making you guys think I'm harsh. I'm german by the way, that seems to be the problem :D

At least BF3 is running good, Mafia II isn't :D
