k, i got my ipod shuffle today, was fillling it up with songs. I got to the limit and then i wanted some other songs so i deleted some songs. I selected 4songs to remove, and then it removed them fine, but now i tried removing a couple more but now it still says Updating Ipod do not disconnect. On the bottom it says i have 116 songs 465.9mb but for Free mb it says only 6.4mb and not updating.

I have no idea what to do.
maybe i shouldn't hav edeleted files on the shuffle??

edit- should i disconnect the IPOD? cause its been like 20minutes and it doesnt say update is finished.

try to eject it from iTunes first, if that doesn't work, quit iTunes then try to eject it from your desktop if it shows up there. failing that just disconnect it and reconnect. iTunes or the Shuffle's software must have gotten hung up somewhere, but try those routes first

thanks it worked, but another quick question,

how come whenever i upload like one or two songs i always upload the same 7 songs all the time. or if i delete a song it reuploads or does something to the same 7 songs?

why does this happen?

that is weird, i would perhaps try to restore your ipod and update it and then see if the problem persists. this means that you have to load your songs up again, but there could be a software issue with your iPod and the restore is probably the best way to get around this. if it continues to happen it could also be an iTunes problem.

no problem, check your utilities folder in Applications to see if you have an ipod updater, if not go to www.apple.com/itunes and you can find the latest software for your iPod, download it, run it, and you will have the option of restoring it

ps. are you downsampling songs by any chance?

yah i selected the option to make it aac 128kbps if its higher and most of the songs i transferred were 160 or 192kbps.

is that why?

it could be why the transfer is taking so long, it means that iTunes has to re-encode the song on the fly, takes more time than you think, but it could also have gotten hung up encoding the songs, its a likely possibility, try just moving songs over without downsampling and see if there are issues, and then try again with downsampling and see if that re-creates the issue, then you will know where the problem lies

k, thanks, i was going to downsample the songs first then import the songs on shuffle but i just got lazy and did it the other way.

Thanks for all the information but since my shuffle is full now i'll probably won't transfer any new songs to it yet but will remember your information in the future :)

thanks again
