Hi all,

I've just bought a first generation 11" macbook air. I'd like to bring it all up to date, but the issue is that it' still running leopard and doesn't come with any of the media. I only have a charger with it.

No on the plus side, I do have an iMac and a powerbook so I was wondering if it's possible to use these to help me in some way - sharing the optical drive for instance.

My aim is to get it to a point where I can run lion so at least I won't have to worry about needing a physical drive anymore.

Your advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

Is it 2008 or 11in?
2008 would be 13in.
Lion can be slow on these beasts, so consider sticking with Snow Leopard.

If you want Lion:
Get a copy of a Lion install USB stick from someone who has made one.
No need to go via Snow Leopard.

Oh, and be prepared for your hard disk (if this isn't SSD) and/or your hinge to fail at any time.

appologies, its the 11" version. Sorry.

Its currently running leopard.

I was thinking, my friend has a 2010 macbook air with the usb stick SL installer.

Will this work on my air?
