Hey guys,

I'm stuck with a problem here.
The shortcut Cmd + S stops working a few minutes after I log in to my user account. It'll work for some time after I log in but then will stop working.
After that, it doesn't work in any application.
The shortcut is still listed in the File option of every application. And I can save by clicking on that.

I googled & searched and found a few threads with a similar problem. Their solutions included removing the speech program from the login items but I have only HardwareGrowler and Alfred in mine.
I tried removing them also, but same problem.

Cmd + S hasn't been assigned as some other option's shortcut in the Keyboard Shortcuts part of System Preferences either.

I'm running Lion on a late 2008 Aluminum 13" Macbook.

Hope you guys can help.
Thanks a lot either way. :)

Okay, so I booted into Safe Mode and Command + S is working exactly as it should in all the applications for extended periods of time.
So, it's most probably a 3rd party application which is causing this problem.

Any thoughts on how to narrow it down to a particular app?

I have only 3 items in my Login Items list.

Hardware Growler
JiTouch
Alfred

All of which I executed in Safe Mode and the shortcut is still working.

al alternate idea - toss the plist for your keyboard preferences and let it be rebuilt.

Which file would I be looking at exactly? I googled but I'm not too sure..
Thank for the help, btw.

in the past it was here (in your user folder)
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboardtype.plist

not sure about Lion as i'm not on a Lion machine right now.

I've been looking for that file but sadly, I can't.
the terminal command sudo rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboardtype.plist and Easy Find can't find it either.

Change that to sudo rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.keyboardtype.plist. The post you were replying to specified the user library, but didn't use that path convention.

How should I proceed now?
