I have had to relaunch the Finder way too many times...

I've been relaunching the Finder left and right after getting corrupted icons and issues installing programs... do I have a virus or something? Its really really annoying.

Well last time i checked, there are no OS X viruses. Thats right none.
Have you tried repairing disk permissions, running maintenance scripts, and/or zapping the pram? Some info on how to do the above can be found here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=89736).

definitely check your permissions. i think this was a source of problems for people before
