Deleted mail doesn't go to Trash in Mail?

I noticed today that when I delete an email (using Gmail configured as an Exchange account) that it doesn't go to my Trash? The message is deleted out of my Inbox and remains in All Mail. When I go to the Trash, I see it in there for a second until Mail refreshes the mailbox and then it disappears.

Isn't this the intended behavior of archiving? Is this happening for anyone else? Also, I noticed that Archive option is no longer in Mail settings?

You go to Google Sync's mobile site (www.google.com/mobile/sync), login, go to "Sync", choose your device, then turn on "Enable 'Delete Email As Trash' for this device"
