I just bought a used Galaxy Nexus, it's the Verizon model. Obviously it is less than a year old.. my question is, the screen has some discoloration on it (very noticeable) would I be eligible to contact Samsung and get a replacement model under the warranty?

Contact Verizon's call center and work your way through until they'll issue you a certified like new replacement. Multiple issues help speed up that process.
