What would you have instead? For me it's the Galaxy S3

Prolly GS3 for most of us.

The next Nexus device or a Lumia 920 (if Windows Phone finally gets some developers). Basically, a stock OS is what I'd be after (though the Lumia has some Nokia frills).

HTC One S,One X, Evo 4G LTE, Motorola Photo Q 4GLTE...Not in any specific order, I would research them all first and figure out which one would meet my needs best. But right now it's iPhone 5 and don't need to worry about otherwise, or other phones :)

Most likely a galaxy nexus.

HTC one X without a doubt. I don't get the circle jerk for the galaxy s3, just cause it has an sd card and removable battery.

Either the One X (My friend has one and really tries to sell me on it) or the GS3, only because it's the only other phone I've bothered to keep up with.

I don't know enough about the Lumia series but I still would love to try a windows phone just for the hell of it.

Lumia 920..... and an iPod Touch for med apps since the Windows phone app store lacks those :)

A Nexus with raw Jelly Bean & a great camera would tempt me. I picked up a Nexus 7 on GameStop trades & I love it. It's not an iPad replacement but it blows the Kindle Fire HD away. The N7 is fun & fast.

Probably a Lumia 920 as Nokia knows how to build hardware and WP8 is refreshing.

Galaxy Nexus without a doubt. I want stock Android with no overlays. I'm way over anything Microsoft so those are out.

Samsung Galaxy Note II.

I knew I wasn't going to like the new iPhone but wanted to try it. In 2-3 weeks I will sell it (locally).

Which is actually still a really nice and fast phone. Jelly Bean is a damn good OS too.

Erm, that's hard. I would prefer Android's UI over windows but because of my own reasons I'd rather not get too entrenched in Google's eco-system (having to do with all their stuff integrated and if you are on G+ for example and if you break a "rule" they block access to *all* your google services. I don't want to be too much at the whim of Google cause of that since I do enjoy G+. Oddly enough while I like G+ it's what has made me a bit paranoid of Google. Though I at least trust them a lot farther than FB).

And I hate the Windows phone honestly, blech.

I have a feeling I'd cave and go with an Android, probably a Nexus device to make sure I can get the updates when they came out (updates are nice, they make you feel like you got a new phone in a way). And hopefully I could find a good high end Android phone that isn't ridiculously big (honestly, I prefer smaller to bigger but it seems the iphone is really the only high end phone that hasn't fallen to the bigger is better fad, well now it has but only a little bit at least).

I laughed a bit , I must admit.

Hah, well. Id never go with a Galaxy S3. Those guys are plain jokes. "The mainstream".

Id go with a stone like I had when I was little. Painted some buttons and it was good to go. This thing had everything. Like, from tamagotchi to FIFA 14. Its crazy. Well, I was a bit crazy cause no one saw what I was seeing.
Hell, the stonephone is an old device. Its pretty much imaginary but Id go for a Nokia 3310 if I really had no other choice.

Id Probably go for the s3, the 920 is a lovely phone but theres not enough apps yet

Yep. Basic phone and an iPod Touch

If the iPod touch had a cellular model like the iPad I would have done this instead of getting an iPhone. As much as I like my iPhone I may still go this route or go with an iPad/iPad mini when my contract is up. These carrier plans are ridiculous, especially when I don't make many calls or use much data (usually less than 200 mb/mo).

I'd also probably have a touch+whatever cheap phone.

Galaxy S3 definitely.

The reason I choose the iPhone isnt because of quality or style, its because i prefer iOS over all others. BUT if given a choice then I'd gladly get an S3 sized phone running iOS.

Well for me I would either go the dumb phone/iPod touch route or try out a Lumia 920. I have tried android twice now (GS2 and one X) and really didn't like it much. I suppose I may try whatever the next nexus might be though.

Windows phone is the only other OS that, to me, feels as slick and polished as iOS. I would definitely be using it over android if for some reason I couldn't have my iPhone. I know they are still behind in apps, but the overall feel of windows phone is, to me, better than android. It's all personal preference.

I don't like to think about that. I tried out the HTC One X  and I couldn't wait to go back to the iPhone.

Yep. Basic phone and an iPod Touch

Ditto. I'm not giving up my iOS apps. Android might have counterparts but the quality is no where near the same. Only the base OS is of quality, the apps I find are usually lacking consistency in appearance and quality programming.

Blackberry bold 9900 (and then bb10 when it comes out). The keyboard on that phone is amazing

I'd use whatever The latest Blackberry was around. The only reason I wouldn't choose an iPhone is if it didn't exist. In such a world, I'd hazard a guess that RIM would probably be making better decisions than it has in the past 5 years and stuck to the corporate market rather than making phones for the Kardashians and ruining a consumer line of devices. ;)

I'd love a BB 9900 with iOS on it....I get many emails a day for work and love typing on my BB but I can't stand doing anything else on it so turn to my iPhone for everything else. Would love a phone that combines the keyboard of a BB and iOS for the best of both worlds!!

920 looks awesome, it just really sucks Microsoft won't release the SDK so devs can start making and updating apps for it! I would hate to get the 920 have it limited in the apps department (WP8 updates) for months until good stuff starts rolling out for it. Not to mention they announce it and no release date... that hurts for impatient people like me haha
