View Full Version : iMac refuses to stay asleep or even be POWERED OFF?!

I have a Mid-2011 21.5" iMac I bought in February (specs in signature below), running OS X 10.8.2, and I haven't installed the OS X 10.8.2 supplemental update (as far as I know).

I have a huge issue.

I've always put my iMac into sleep mode when I was done using it, because it made no sense for me to cold-boot 8 hours later when I'd get up. I always shutdown and reboot twice/three times a week to keep things smooth.

But since Monday, if I put the computer into sleep mode, I'll get woken up at the wee hours of the morning, because the iMac is blasting my screensaver into my face.

I SHUT DOWN the iMac last night, because I was fed up. I physically click "Shut Down..." and watched it power off. I just now got up to get ready for school, and I see it's somehow turned itself ON, and the default screensaver was running. I move the trackpad cursor, and I see the login screen.

UPDATE: I searched for "startup" in Console, and found this entry from 2:20 AM today:

10/5/12 2:20:25.290 AM appleeventsd[66]: main: Starting up

----------

More code, with a shutdown code of 5.

Strangely enough, it mentions when I rebooted at 4PM yesterday, but not when I shut down the computer around 11AM...
