mad jew Moderator emeritus Aug 29, 2005 #5 If you type out a URL and you want it to load in a new tab, simply press COMMAND-RETURN instead of just RETURN. 🙂 And of course this is assuming tabbed browsing is enabled in the Safari preferences.

Keyboard shortcuts are for n00bs. Having to go that extra distance and pressing and extra button and a click is WAY too much. The button is easier.
