I just bought a G4 500 mHz on ebay. No software was included. Do I need to buy an install cd or can I just buy os x. If I need an install or restore cd where can I buy one and how do I know which one I need.

A restore CD will generally have all the free apps that came with the Mac like the free game, AppleWorks etc. However, buying OSX will mean you get the base system upon which you can then install your own apps. So both will work, but the restore CD will limit you to the original OSX that came with the Mac (or was it pre-OSX?) however a regular OSX disk will suffice.

The best thing for you is go out and buy Tiger and if you can swing it get iLife too.

Would Tiger run faster than earlier versions of OSX? I would have thought the earlier ones would be faster but I don't have any experience with this sort of thing.
