I want to install a 1gb stick of ram into my min ibut i can't figure out wich way it goes, I know the pins go on the bottom but it looks like i can fit both ways. i don't know wich side faces me and wich side faces away.

Yes it matters, there is a notch in the ram slot that lings up with the notch on the ram chip. The ram chip has a small and a large end. Look closely because jamming it in the wrong way with severly damage both the mini and the ram.

Do the images on this page make it any more clear?

You'll have to get it round the correct way - where is the 'notch' in the module you're removing? Make sure the notch in your 1GB stick is at the same end.

I got it in and it runs like a dream. Now how do I get the ripple effect in dashboard!

EDIT: I just found out the cold hard truth about the ripple effect not being supported in the mini. I think i need some time to get over it. *sob*
