View Full Version : Who is getting the Note II?

Just wondering if any long time iPhone users will be getting the Note II once it hits AT&T next month? Anyone think its too big, or not big enough? Anyway, the specs alone might sway many people.

If so, how do you plan on buying it? Upgrade, full retail?

2GB Ram
16GB, 32GB, 64GB storage + 64GB MicroSD slot

Too big in my opinion. I laugh everytime I see someone holding it up to their ear talking on it. Almost as big as the persons head.

I was thinking about it, but went and played with the original Note at the store and it is just too big. For work it would be OK, but I can't see me sticking that thing in my pocket while at my kid's soccer game. I know, I could do a sim card swap thing, but that ain't my bag.

I am however considering (shutter) the Galaxy S3... I a huge fan of Apple, but I must admit, that is a fantastic device and I think I could have more "fun" with that. (No flames please).

Good luck.

Well this is an iPhone forum.

But anyway, I won't get it because it's too big. For me, if I will ever get a Samsung phone, the S II's size was perfect.

Only thing about the GSIII is the Qualcomm chip. Samsung's Exynos processors are much better and now with LTE support makes the Note II even more tempting.

Really now? That's why my iphone 5 was defective out of the box, oh and my friend's had horizontal lines at the top of his 5??

Doesn't sound like the best phone ever. Of course the Note II isn't the best either but at least Samsung has good quality control.

But do the majority of us have iPhones? ;)

Maybe there are some people who didn't like the iPhone 5 and are considering other options now.

You might have better answers if you post this in the appropriate sub-forum.

I, like most people here, think that the Note line is waaaay too big for phones.

I have tiny hands and sometimes struggle to hit the Back button on my iPhone 5. My ideal screen size would be maybe 3.8" inch.

I think it is relative as many long-time iPhone users are not that stoked about missing tech & quality issues. I tested devices for years and hated Android but enjoyed the Note & GS2. I do have pretty big hands though.

I won't be getting it. It's too big, I think the Note 1 is too large. The biggest size phone that I would personally use is about the Galaxy S3's 4.8" screen. Don't think I'm saying the Note 2 is bad though, because it isn't. If I wanted another Android though, I'd wait for all these rumored Nexus phones I keep hearing about. I <3 Vanilla Android. I personally feel like Jelly Bean is superior to iOS 6. But I think iOS has MUCH better 3rd party app support. For the record I'm currently using a Verizon iPhone 5.

What? Someone can't enjoy both?

Since when do you have to be an apple fanboy to post on here? :D I know i am not. But getting to the OP, i would much rather go with a Samsung Galaxy 3 if i did make a switch. The idea of a phone and tablet is intriguing. But i cannot fathom lugging something that big around.

I do believe its a large phone. I also I can see myself slowly adjusting to it. I also agree on Jelly Bean superior to iOS 6. Apple is slowly starting to drift into RIM territory.

Can't believe I'm saying this but agree 100% on Jelly Bean. I picked up a Nexus7 on trades from GameStop & LOVE raw JB. It's just fun. I'm considering the Note 2 but doubt its camera can match the 5's.

Yeah I mean, if you like the size of the phone.. then go for it. I don't like Manufacturer skins.. but the only 1 I think that is decent is TouchWiz. It's ok.. not as good as Vanilla though. I own a Nexus 7 and I've been a long time iPhone user.. I sold my iPhone 4S in August and picked up a Galaxy S3. It was fun.. put CyanogenMod 10 on there, Google Wallet, etc. I loved the phone, I don't have a single complaint to make about it except maybe battery life (its battery is way better than the Galaxy Nexus though) in the end, I went back to iPhone though. I sold it and bought a 32GB iPhone 5. Mainly because of the 3rd party apps. Google Play doesn't have my banking app, Facebook app sucks.

It isn't Google's fault though. I still get to play with Android though via my Nexus 7. But from a 3rd party app perspective.. there's no denying iOS has Android there.

GSIII and ip5 camera quality are near identical. Both have pros and cons. The Note II camera is the same as the GSIII, I think.

5.5" is way too big (cue sexual joke/insult). I think the sweet spot in screen size is really 4.3-4.5" and would love to see more flagships released within that range.

For me, it is between the Note II and the rumored HTC Droid DLX(or its supposed Nexus variant -
Nexus 5). I just wish that both companies would hurry up and make their announcements with all of the details (especially US pricing and availability).

I need to decide if the S-Pen is worth it to me.

I would assume the screen would be better on the HTC. A long with build quality. The rumors have fallen flat for anymore Nexus devices besides the LG unfortunately. I would consider a Nexus 5 but not a sense branded version.

I am trying to think if I would use s pen as well. I could take take during meetings at work and at church. Would I actually do that is the question.

I was looking into that as well. But I'm growing impatient, and there isn't much news on it as of now. But what I have seen is there won't be a micro sd slot and that's a deal breaker.

That 1080 res screen though would be amazing

It's about 8cm wide by 15 cm high. (that's ~ 3.1" x 5.9") - bigger than the S3.

However, it will still fit into (most) shirt pockets, which is what sets it apart from 7" tablets. You need the big screen to get any use out of the pen. It also makes it great for in-car GPS.

You really need to go to a shop and hold one to decide whether it is for you or not.

i am just preordered my note 2 for rogers here in canada. I've had the iphone 5 since release, and i'm sick of the battery life. I've gone threw two replacements for battery life and the second phone is giving me signal and call quality issues. I've already been issued a return from apple, and the supposed release date is october 28, so can't wait. I've had a lot of iphones and androids, and android has really caught up, even surpassed ios a little. My phone before the iphone 5 was the international GS3, and the only thing ill miss from the iphone is the itunes store, which is far superior here in canada. The apps are about equivalent no real difference these days.

Having to pay for apps again is one negative, but I moved from the 4s to a Note last year and would do it again. If Apple had a 4.8" + true 720p phone I'd go back as I use the iPad so much would prfer the phone to have the same os , calendar, etc.

To those who look at a Note in store and think its too big, I was the same.
If your used to a 4s or even a 5 the Note looks massive, but I found after a few days of use that preception goes. Now when I look at a Apple phone they look so small.

Having played with the S3 for a couple of weeks I think the S3 camera is poor. If someone is moving whilst a picture is being Aiken of them then you will have a dry poor quality picture on the S3 IMO, whereas this doesn't happen on the iPhone 5 or even the 4S.

I don't know my terminology when it comes to photography but the S3 pictures weren't showing much colour and were a lot whiter too I thought.

Maybe in the land of small people! I've used the Note and have seen plenty of people using them, and they don't look funny at all. WHat looks funny is a large person trying frantically to send a text message on an iphone while carefully trying to touch the correct characters on the tiny iphone keyboard. :D

I was thinking about getting it on Verizon. With the per-order now live it appears that the release date is 11/29. That is a very long time from now. It actually convinced me to wait and see more about the HTC Droid DNA. I may go to a t-Mobile store and play with a note 2, but I am not going to pre-order one and wait for a month. A lot can change in a month. I guess all of that money that Motorola pays to Verizon for advertising has convinced them to not impact the Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD sales.

The waiting continues....

If it comes to that sure, I've got no problem waiting as I am happy with my 4s too :)

I'm a slickdealer at heart, I don't care about getting something the very first day it comes out and paying high prices... I'd much rather wait a bit and get it for a much better deal (saving hundreds) later on through patience.
