Can not reply to email unless I delete the original message out of the reply

Hello all, wondering if anybody has any ideas on this issue
Mac air late 2011 10.8.2 using built in mail 6.2 (1499).
Using my ISP's (suddenlink) email servers.

I can send new email without any issues. I can receive emails without any issues.

If I reply to an email the email gets stuck in my outbox until I get an error saying mail could not deliver to this server.

But if I do a reply and delete the original text out of the reply and send the email it works just fine.

If I run the mail troubleshooter it connects to the email server just fine.
