I currently have around 157. I was wondering how much charges will I need until my battery finally goes from normal to bad

I've seen anywhere from 300-500 with no problems.

A "failed" battery can happen at anytime. A consumed battery takes a while.

So, "Bad" can be relative.

Are you giving it a deep cycle at least once a month (for newer machines less than a year old).

How old is it?

How long does the battery last with constant use?

Apple estimates 1000 charge cycles in a battery's life. You don't need to do any conditioning.

That's why I ask which model they have... I don't think the original had such high recharge counts... I hope so, because that's what I have.

I don't have it with me at work today, now I'm curious as to how many charge counts I have.

I'm at 201 charge cycles with 92% of original battery capacity on my 2011 MacBook Air. Admittedly I haven't calibrated the battery since June, so that figure may change after the next cycle.

This apple support page shows how many cycles they say a battery can get broken down by each model and revision.

my late 2010 is at 111.

It just depends on how you treat your battery.

The built-in batteries in the newer Mac unibody notebooks come pre-calibrated and do not require regular calibration (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490) like the removable batteries in older Apple notebooks.

The link below should answer most, if not all, of your battery/charging questions. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you take the time to read it.

I'll have had my MacBook Air 11" for a year this Halloween, and I currently have 154 cycles with 95% health.

2008 2.1, original battery, 1067 cycles, 83% capacity. Second display (broken hinge, warranty repair). Second drive (bad section on original h.d., took 5 minutes to boot), replaced with O.W.C. SSD. Third sound card cable.

Worst Mac I've ever had but it won't completely die.
