View Full Version : ***********.com - where ********* left off

I found this website ***********.com and the first thing I thought of was the whole *********.com scandal a little while back. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it was about this site where you bought raffle tickets and the owner raffled off different mac models - but in the end it got shut down for being illegal because paying affected your chances of winning.

So anyway, it seems to me that *********** is a similar idea, but actually legit. They are able to do the whole "no purchase necessary" thing because entering is completely free. The catch? Well to enter a raffle, you have to complete some kind of offer (like: regsitering for a website, submitting a loan request, etc.) which gets you a chance to win a free ipod or itunes gift certificate.

Seems to me like a very clever spin on ********* to make the whole thing legal.

Thoughts?

Nice idea to edit it to make it sort of acceptable on MR, however i don't think it will work.

That wasn't the edit - I tried to take out the .com in the title because I thought that's what the first dude wanted.

Anyway, anybody care to comment on the actual thing I was talking about?

i see a wasteland in the future :)Good idea, no need for the newest twist on Free iPod Crap dot com.

Sign up for a loan from a site like this, you got to be kidding me.

Much worse than phishing.

1. They are asking you for enough info to make you worth money on the open market.

2. There is no reason for any of the linked sites to be legit.
