As some of you have probably noticed, the music store has not updated today as it usualy does so do you think this means iTunes 5 tomorrow? If not 5, then like a 4.9.1?

I found this highly unusual. Anyone else?

It is unusual - iPod software and iTunes update tomorrow - most likely.

Yes could be just in preparation for tomorrow, intergration with the iTune phone from Motorola perhaps? (Although its rumored iTunes 4.9 has the intergration already!)

Hmmm...interesting, we can all hope its something fantastic and brilliant! :D

What time is this event supposed to be happening tomorrow anway? Thanks. :)

10am PSt i think, so 6pm GMT i think....

I could always be 4.9.1, with the ability to download songs from a mobile.
It could also be added support for new stores or new features.

Yes, indeed, there seems to be a lot of sudden rumors about new iPods today due for tomorrow. New stores are always welcome (I feel for those who don't get iTMS yet!)

4.9.1...I would think thats more likely than 5, remember when Apple released the shuffle, they updated iTunes 4.7 to 4.7.1, just for the Autofill feature.

I know there's loads of threads on itunes 5, but personally, i'd like nested fodlers (like iPhoto 5), the ability to fade songs in or out and Smarter Smart Playlists (ands/or)...

... the ability to fade songs in or out...

Isn't that what 'Crossfade Playback' does? (iTunes > Preferences > Audio > Crossfade Playback)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Gapless playback! (for both iTunes and the iPod)

no, i mean the ability to pcik a certain song and say you want to fade in over the first 5 seconds and fade out over the last 10, for example....like if you have a live tracks and you want to remove the audience banter from the start/end.
current start/stop times is a bit abrupt.

it just apple trying to play up the fact that you can get iTunes on a phone.

I finally have an album that needs this! It is the most annoying thing when it sounds like the song stops for a second then resumes.

Maybe... but comparing it to the original release of the iPod would suggest something bigger. I'll guess we'll find out...

Has the music store ever been left unchanged before updates? I've not noticed, but if so, was it for minor upgrades or major ones. Here's hoping for something good, though. :D

I have a few CDs where two songs sort of need gapless playback so I just join them before I rip. Works easily enough in iTunes: Advanced menu>Join CD Tracks.

One important thing to note that someone else brought to my attention: Apple doesn't update Tuesdays following a Monday holiday. Remember July 4 (a Monday)? They didn't update until the Wednesday following.

Hmmmm...window of opportunity for new products still open though, right?!
Maybe more things will appear when the news is announced, its just hiding!
I'm looking forward to the news later on from this event! :)

What about the ability to sell or give away your music? Perhaps even music from your Garageband. Have your own store with iTunes 5. That would be huge but difficult to regulate. Someone might try to sell something they don't own.

Yes, intriging idea, but as you say, hard to regulate. There could be expansion on the iMixes though! But they could screen them, like they do the Podcast directory.

The link that you click on the main page to get the screen with all the flags now says 'Choose music store' on the UK Page...but still says 'Choose store' on the US one.

Maybe some form of downloable additional visualisations for iTunes, like WnAmp and WMP on the PC does and Spotlight intergration. Support for .ogg would be nice ( open source like Webkit), as would a advanced tage editor like WMP.

Hmmm...possibility of video store then, eh?! Shame its looking like US only at the moment, if it does turn out to be something! (Still feel sorry for people who don't have a normal iTMS)

There are already downloadable vis plug ins for iTunes, how would you integrate Spotlight any further? They got the idea for Spotlight from iTunes' search abilities. It is possible to get .ogg playback through iTunes (but not iPod) via a Quicktime plug-in. What sort of advanced tags are you talking about?
