Playing iPod songs from iTunes

Hey guys, is there any way to play songs on a mac/windows system directly off of the iPod? I've been doing some googling on the subject but haven't found any decent answers as of yet.

Hey guys, is there any way to play songs on a mac/windows system directly off of the iPod? I've been doing some googling on the subject but haven't found any decent answers as of yet.
This works and I used to be able to do it when my iPod was synced manually, but apparently once you tie it to a particular library for automatic sync this is no longer possible.

You might be able to place a copy of foobar 2000 http://www.foobar2000.org on the iPod itself and be able to use that on Windows to play your library "remotely".

EDIT: Of course your iPod would have to be formatted for PC for this to work.
