Hey. I have problems with my external sound card (novation, nine 2/4). When I want to record vocals / guitar. When I sing / play do i hear s "metallic" buzzing. I've got a new sound card, but the same problem persists. It is probably a problem with my computer and not the sound card / cable. I have updated the drivers to the latest, uninstalled, installed the older drivers but the problem persists. I've checked the system messages and found some suspicious things (attached image). I have an imac 27 "mid 2011 running 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.

If you ever get another chance to buy an audio interface make certain that it does NOT require drivers. Interfaces that are "Class Compliant" can use Mac OS' built-in drivers and you will never have to worry about the manufacturer loosing interrest in driver maintenance.

That is the biggest danger, the manufacturer has not financial interest in updating a driver after he has sold the lost of some model of device. So you are stuck.

I don't know that this is the case here but your error messages point that way.

BTW the Novation has interal "effects". I assume some of those are a kind of distortion effect. That is likely the root cause of the sound defect, It is being misapplied because of a software problem. I am surprised the default from power up is not a simple clean interface with no effects applied.

Do you mean Novation Nio 2/4?

Did you uninstall the old drivers before you installed the new drivers. You need to have the newest drivers installed.

Where is the buzzing coming from. iMac speakers, headphones or what.
