iOS Noob screen design question

The following screen is an example of what I'm trying to accomplish. The top area will be one of 7 different areas of the body, and each will have different buttons that the user will be able to click on to track daily injections. My understanding at this point is that each button will have to be done using separate .png files. The bottom part with date and time will be the same. Would I create a view within a view for this? Any suggestions on the button implementation would also be very helpful.

I'm just picking iPhone development up again, and have realized that my Beginning iPhone Development and More iPhone 3 Development books are now very outdated, and am planning on snagging a copy of the latest version.
