Buying PowerMac early 2007, get IBM or wait for Intel?

I'm personally going to be buying the last PPC revision of the powerbook to supplement my rev A G5. Then, I plan on purchasing a rev b intel mac.

I forsee many bugs in the rev a intel macs, and do not wish to be a part of them. Then again, if you're looking to get a PowerMac, there may not be another PPC revision before the switch... so either you are willing to deal with the possibility of numerous bugs, or want to get a reliable (but not as fast) machine.

imac g5 - fan issue
pm g5 - fan issue
al PB - white spot display
al displays - ghosting? might not be that, but i know there was something

Both of my Macs are Rev A's and have been excellent.

Only the 15" PBs had a widespread "white spot" problem. The problem with the 12" PB was the heat. I don't believe the 17" never had any major problems.
 
If you really need performance you will want to wait. Most say the current G5 processors are very slow compared to what Intel has out today and you can only imagine the difference when the new Intel stuff comes out.
 
If I were you, I would buy the PowerMac after the next update which should be either late fall/early winter 2006. That should be more then enough computer for anybody and should last you a good long while.

That's quite an overstatement. "Most" don't say anything one way or another. The issue is quite hotly contested.

I think it can be said that G5s were basically faster than P4s when they were introduced, but P4s have more or less caught up.

As it is, G5s are faster than P4s for many things (video editing is a major one), while P4s have the edge with others (general business use).

These differences have to do with processor architecture, and are too technical for me to explain.
