Hi everyone,

Is there any way to plug a standard DVD/VCR audio/video adapter (red, white, and yellow) into an iBook G4?

I have the iBook G4 1.33 GHz that came out in Fall 2004. The iBook has 1 DVI/VGA output, which is used to connect out to a projector. It also has FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 port.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I imagine it is to capture and edit, right?

If you want to edit footage from a DVD, you have to convert it to an editable format with something like Cinematize2 (http://www.miraizon.com/)

MacAficionado suggested great stuff, just wanted to add one more that is a little cheaper.

It is a firewire bridge like the canopus stuff. There is not a way to get A/V into the ibook without a device like these.

Thanks for the quick responses. Good products but they are a little too expensive for me. My intended use of audio/video-to-iBook was not quite so "noble" or important as capturing and editing DVD footage. Instead, I was hoping to connect my good old Dreamcast into the laptop to play old school games through the laptop screen. I would connect it to a TV but I don't currently own a TV in my college dorm room. It would be cheaper for me to buy an old TV than to buy a $100+ real-time input box. Thanks for the help either way.

Nope. There isn't any analog video capture built into any Mac these days.
