Is it possible to ship an ibook to someone in Japan, from the U.S.? Will it be confiscated at customs? Or if it does go through, will the person receiving it in Japan have to pay a horrendously large tax or something? Have any of you ever done this? If so, please let me know if it's possible/legal/practical.

The person in Japan should know about their customs regulations and taxes. It would be best to ask them so they can find out from someone there. If you're going to ship it using someone like FedEx or UPS, I would call them and see what you have to do in order to get it to someone in Japan without any troubles.

its just like sending anything over seas...its gonna cost you money and as long as its nothing illegal then it should go over nicely...of course he or she will need a new poweradapter and have to do some tweaking but the actual shipping should be no problem
