I got my powerbook a few weeks ago and am loving it. I have an extensive music collection on my PC that I would like to transfer (via wireless home network) to my mac>ipod.

I've tried opening windows sharing but my PC doesn't show up on the network (I should add that the first time I opened windows sharing, my pc did show up,but said it couldn't be opened because the original alias could not be found). I've tried disconnecting>reconnecting, rebooting, etc. but it's no longer showing up.
Anyone have some suggestions?

Have you followed edesignuk's comprehensive guide to networking OSX and Windows (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=54704)? :)

No problem. Is it working now? I still have a little bit of trouble finding my Mac from my PC every now and then. :(

hmm...still not working yet. It tries to connect to server for about 2 minutes then: "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some of the data in smb://ipaddress/folder could not be read or written"

?

Try it without the /folder part, just smb://IP address. :)

If it still doesn't work, maybe try disabling your PC's firewall (inbuilt in XP since Service Pack II).
