Can you see any of them being elected after how current bush reacted to the whole Hurricane Katrina thing? His approval rating was somewhere around 39% and I don't think people will forget about that.
Also, who would do it? Jenna? Barbara? Jeb Bush jr. who was just arrested for public intoxication?
I don't see it.
But then again, I am in a microcosm all day, and I don't get that broad a view of political ideas. (I'm at school 9+ hours a day. Pretty much, we're all liberals.)

The concern always reverts back to the gullibility of the electorate. As far as Jeb Jr. is concerned, his uncle was a drunk and he made it.

Want a wild scenario? What if Cheney resigns for health reasons before his term is over and George appoints Jeb as his new VP? Jeb goes into the primaries as the favorite, along with the well known Bush ability to get the "most" out vote counts. Do you feel the chills running down your spine yet?

Nah, I'd go out on a limb to say that the moderates in the (relatively, in these days) level-headed US Senate wouldn't stand for the brothers Bush. I think that getting a simple majority for a new VP would be an uphill battle in the Senate if that nominee was Jeb, no matter how many nuclear options are threatened. This is also assuming that every Republican decided to back the party on GW's decision. As disconcerted as many of the more conservative ones are becoming with the current administration, I just don't see that happening. But I also didn't think that CA would be so dumb and reactionary as to elect Arnold, so I may not be the doling out the best betting advice.

Or better yet, Cheney runs in '08 with G.W. Bush as the V.P. (you know, to 'stay the course' and all) and then Cheney dies and W. gets to be president for 2 more years!
On second thought, lets just give G.H.W. Bush another 4 and be done with this clan forever.

I would be all for that. In fact Bush, Sr. would also take care of this nagging moral minority that is currently plaguing our bills too. He was really good at that back in his day. Even as a liberal, I really wish that we had some more real conservatives still around. It helped keep the balance a little better, you know?

I hope not to be one who takes too much pleasure in the misfortunes of others (I envy German speakers for having a word specifically for this), but I can't help being amused by the moral failings of people who pretend moral superiority. Poetic justice can compare favorably to the other kind, especially when you know you aren't going to get the other kind.

There in lies the difference between the Kennedy and Bush families. The Kennedy's never IMO tried to make themselves morally superior to the rest of us. The Bush's however have tried (less so with Bush I)

I never quite understood why people say this. Bush I's presidency had less government disasters and coverups than the Reagan administration. Of course, you could chalk that up to his term only being half as long, but Reagan had some really embarassing moments that even a blow job can't stand up to. America, up until this president, has had a decent run of presidents who seemed to work well both at home and abroad. Reagan went off for a while in his earlier term, but got back on track eventually. Bush I continued Reagan's policies, but was realistic enough to change around some of the ideas that weren't quite working. Clinton did the same thing, only in a more liberal way. Now we have Bush II throwing it all in the wind and doing what the neo-con cabal (whose philosophy his father and Clinton fought tooth and nail to keep out of foreign policy) wanted to do since the Cold War. This my friend, is a disastrous presidency. I can't think of anything else in recent history that could compare.
By this token, I don't see Bush I's presidency as being a disaster at all. He did a decent job, and I would settle for that now. As far as Republicans go, I can't say that I have minded a Republican president (with one exception); it's some of the others behind him that I can't stand. For some reason the past few presidents have been insistent on keeping them around.

Your right Bush II makes just about any president look good, but Bush I was definitely no plumb either.
George Bush Senior's Memorable Moments:
- The invasion of Panama or Operation "Just Cause", where after many attempts at regime change finally succeeded in arresting Manuel Noriega.
- Led the United States into the Gulf War to secure Middle East oil fields, once the oil fields were secure, pulled out of Iraq and left Saddam Hussein in power who immediately started a bloody, punitive oppression of the Kurds.
- Tianamen Square - After the massacre at Tianamen Square and the subsequent arrest, torture and execution of student leaders present at the demonstration, Bush consistently sought a friendly and normal relation with China despite pressures from both left and right.
- "Read my lips: No new taxes", then raised taxes and alienated his conservative base.
- Bush's last act in office was his pardon of six former government employees implicated in the Iran-Contra scandal, including former Secretary of Defense, Caspar Weinberger in order to stave off his own appearance in front of a Grand Jury.
I would much rather have a president who lied about a blow job from an intern than a president with a record like George H.W. Bush anyday.

Your right Bush II makes just about any president look good, but Bush I was definitely no plumb either.
George Bush Senior's Memorable Moments:
<snip>
Yes, but as I have been arguing, not that Bush I was the bastion of the presidency, but his presidency wasn't a disaster as one said previously. When Clinton took office (during which he made his fair share of mistakes and scandals aside from the non-issue of the blow job), he didn't have to play clean up too badly. Imagine the poor guy after Bushy II. Also Bush I didn't potentially harm America's social and economic standing in the world for decades to come. We're still going to feel the brunt of the current administration's decisions when we have kids (or grandkids), trust me.
A few niggles though with what you said:
- "Read my lips: No new taxes", then raised taxes and alienated his conservative base.
This doesn't show complete ineffectiveness as a president. The country needed more tax revenue, and Bush did it, despite the political pressure on him at the time, and despite what he thought he could do. Isn't this the sort of thing that we complain about our politician's not doing? Clinton had to raise taxes too, remember? Unfortunately this also falls as a black mark on his record, because it is probably the main thing that got him into office. This just showed that he was a liar (like every other politician).
- Led the United States into the Gulf War to secure Middle East oil fields, once the oil fields were secure, pulled out of Iraq and left Saddam Hussein in power who immediately started a bloody, punitive oppression of the Kurds.
So we should have already have been in Iraq? The well publicized reason that Bush didn't topple Saddam was because there was no viable exit plan for our troops in the very volatile middle east. He feared we would have been stuck there for at least 10 years trying to play security while propping up a faltering democracy amongst religious fundamentalists. Ominous, huh? I'm glad he kept Cheney and Wolfowitz out of that decision making process.
Other than that, you are right. Iran-Contra is one of the biggest black eyes to date in America's political history. Bush's involvement in it is regrettable, especially during the Reagan years when it all happened. But by no means does it mean that Bush I's presidency is a disaster, which is the point I've been trying to make. Hey, if we want to argue that Clinton was better, I'm with you, but Bush I wasn't as bad as some want to paint him. Just like Reagan was nowhere near as good as the current Republicans try to claim.
