Hi, I have a MacBook Pro MD102, 2012 model, and I want to Bootcamp it with Windows7 Ultimate. During the Bootcamp process it requires the Machintosh HD to be partitioned. My question is; During partitioning, is it also formatting the partition with the MacOs installed in it? I mean that I will have to reinstall everything on my MacOs? Or it just takes a piece of my hard drive and the remaining stays as it was? Thanks

No formatting occurs, otherwise you would not be able to run Boot Camp Assistant, as it is on the partition it would have to format, as Boot Camp Assistant resides on the same partition as Mac OS X and can only be run in Mac OS X.
As you said, only a portion (set by yourself) will be taken from the main partition and being used for a new partition.
