Hi Guys,

Basically I have an old iPod 5g that is working in every respect except I cannot for the life of me change the content on it, via formatting or restoring etc. It is a windows formatted iPod.

It is not recognised when plugged in to any computer via USB, it only charges, whether it is in normal mode or in disk mode. By this I mean it doesnt seem to be detected as an attached device. In disk mode the iPod only says "OK to disconnect", but will charge when plugged in in this state, but not detect that it is connected to a computer. iTunes does not detect it and nor does windows/linux/mac.

The problem is definatley not the usb cable (I've tried multiple different ones), or a knackered hard disk as it passes all the tests in diagnostics mode (select and prev buttons) and no errors pop up when booting/restarting the ipod.

Anyone have any ideas how I can sort this?

Any help would be appreciated muchly :)

Thanks,
