Hilo, Hi.
Hi Guys,
I have three questions:
I have the first run Power Mac G5 from two years ago. I think it came with a 1X dvd writer and I was able to upgrade the firmware to 2x ( I kinda remember doing that). I notice it will not accept more recently purchaced media at 16x speed.

My questions are...
-How do I verify the speed it will write at?
-Can I make it write even faster?
-Do I have to use only 1x or 2x media? This is not as available anymore.

Thanks in advance.

My house!
The original PowerMac G5's have a 4x SuperDrive (DVD-RW). Of course if you only have 1x Blank DVD's then it will only write at 1x no matter how fast your DVD Burner is.

You might want to buy a pioneer DVR-110 Burner and stick it in (10 min job, easy)... It will support up to 16x burn, although you might need patchburn for full support in some apps.
