I'm playing games on a PC.

There I said it.

Our family recently purchased a Intel based tower with a dual boot (RH Linux/Windows 2000) config.

Specs: 2.2Ghz, 512MB RAM, 2*40GB HDD, nVidia GeForce 4 Ti 4600.

Just though I'd share that with the Mac gaming community.

I'll still play some games on my Mac, but my old slot-loading iMac is beginning to show its age.

How is it? How are the games?

I must confess that I, as well, still play games now and then on the PC. In fact I think that most people still play games on the PC, even if they have Apples. PC's have to be good for something other than paperweights and doorstops. :)

Of course. How could I?! Don't forget the classic Minesweeper (I think that's what it was called.)

Great. :)

I don't have very many PC games, but I do have JK2 and it runs like a dream at 1024*768 with everything maxed.

I could probably go a little higher on the resolution, but I don't really care.

I probably will only play games which have not been ported over to the Mac and probably never will (i.e. Homeworld Cataclysm - one of the best RTS ever).

My parents will probably use the tower more than I will since they are both teaching at a local community college and both use CPU and GPU intensive apps. One of the apps is called Earthvision and it is used for geology, mapping oil fields, etc. It usually runs on Sun Workstations and Unix, but not Mac OS X; my father would have purchased a Mac tower if his software ran under X. Ah well.

Who replaced hitman with some PC clone?

Oh well, we all succumb to power at some time in our lives. :D I thought about it, but it's not worth it...yet.

Hehe... :D

Just wait until I have enough for a new Mac tower... :p

I'm not planning on ditching my iMac as a gaming platform though.

And besides, my father needs the HDD space and JK2 is already off the Hard Drive. He's got passwords on login and everything. :D ;) :p

I suppose, but JKII fit on my hard drive okay, even if the hard drive is slow, the game isn't. I don't have it bumped up like you like though.

Wait until my Radeon 9700! I'll show you PC clone. Take that! What did you do with our hitman? :D

You know Hitman you don't have to use a PC to play games. You can play games on a console system (insert favorite system here...). They never crash , get viruses, need the OS to be reinstalled or need to be updated every year with the latest graphics card to play the latest games. Then you wont have to be ashamed of your PC. ;)

Be sure to buy plenty of powder to go with that blast armour, I hear it itches. :D No one needs itchy clones...they might revolt...or go for a pint after a battle.

Btw, what's the warranty on those death stars? I hear that they explode during the first full-fledged battle.

You would not believe the insurance on these things. :D

And I don't even get a full replacement, only a half finished 2005 model if anything goes wrong. :D ;)

btw I got your PM, sorry I have not replied. I've been awful busy lately.
