How easy is it for a lay person to replace a logic board in a Macbook A1181?

Attempting to purchase a logic board for a dead macbook due to water damage. Someone recovered all my photos from the HD, so I assume that the HD is ok? macbook has lots of great software on there - would this be on the harddrive? or the logic board? sorry im not tehnically forward in thinking :-0
