Just got a Mac and looking for a program that can edit music files.

What I need most, the ability to:
Cut
Paste
Mix Paste
Change format of files from .wav to .mp3
Also change bit rate of .mp3 in an easy, file, save as method

I basically blend my own mixes and also keep all my .mp3's at the same bit rate

The easiest most efficient program I have used in the past is Cool Edit but I know that's basically been history for quite a while.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

For editing -- cutting, pasting, moving audio clips -- I've seen NO digital audio software that equals Cubase.

I suggest you visit this page for some more information:

For converting from wav format to mp3, use iTunes. It gives you a wide choice of bit rates, etc.

i'll answer indirectly - if you were comfortable with CEP, Adobe bought it and repackaged it - how much of it is still the same, I can't say.

Audacity will let you do all of that. However mix-paste can be achieved with a separate track mixed in at the right time.

It's open source and is being actively developed.

I think I had Audacity and thought it didn't have the option to mix paste?
