Hello all,

I just recently purchased a 12'' Powerbook and I noticed ever time I open up the laptop the super drive would make a strange buzzing/grinding noise that seemed quite unusual. While this is my first Apple laptop I was unsure if this was a natural sound but my sister's 15" did not make the same strange sounds. I sent it back to Apple just to make sure, which they said they replaced the drive and wiring, and it still makes the same noise. Does anyone have any experience with this phenomenon? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My iBook makes a similar noise. Is there anything else wrong with it? Does it still burn/read disks okay?

No, it seems to work just find, I'm playing a DVD right now and it buzzes a little as it reads the disk but besides that it is okay.
