My sister is planning on giving up her iBook to me soon once she gets a new job and replaces her iBook with a new computer. At the moment, part of me wants to sell the machine and another part wants me to keep the machine. To indulge my curiosity, I decided I might as well find out what this iBook could earn me...

At the moment, the iBook has suffered the normal wear and tear: Scratched up outside, a little worn out trackpad (or it appears that way), and a broken option key. I figure I can repair it all though. I need one of those iPod scratch cleaning solutions to clean up the iBook's physical shell. The trackpad is completely functioning and has suffered normal usage, so it's pointless in doing anything to it. A keyboard would cost about $90, so I might as well replace it. I can toss in an Airport card since my iMac G4 has no use for its (its wired directly to the router). We still have the original box, the VGA adapter, the phone line, software, and AC adapter. The battery is quite good still. It nears almost 3 hours (my sister rarely unplugged her machine from the power adapter).

Figuring in my little repair, cleaning, and adding an Airport card how much would you want for this machine?

These iBooks usually go for around $300-$350 or even under maybe under your conditions. If you really don't want to sell it hold onto it....or you can sell it in parts, say sell the AirPort, then the battery, then the power adapter etc. It's up to you what you want to do with it. If your interested in selling the battery I might take a look.

Good luck

You can get a new keyboard on ebay for a LOT less than that. I found one for $34 + $6 shipping. Also if you search for ibook on ebay that could give you an estimate on how much they go for. Limeibook86 is right though, around $350.

Hey,
I have an idea.

I have a blueberry clamshell.
How about since you kind of want the laptop but you also want cash,
I send you my clamshell + some cash for your iBook, so that way you end up still having an iBook AND some cash

Sound good?
Let me know.

:)

You guys sure about that?

I was bidding on a Clamshell iBook (466 MHz) and it went up to the $400 range! You're telling me a superior Dual USB iBook isn't even going to break that?!

And thanks for the keyboard suggestions. Good ol' eBay :)

Still not sure if that's enough for me to budge, but I'll let you know when/if I officially sell.

the one you have has a lot more wear on it.
