Hey has any one seen this if not sign it. This is totaly complete crap that some company's dissing the mac or showing the cold shoulder or no suport to us mac user's, what gives with them not wanting any thing to do with the macintosh platform. hell look at the yahoo im for the pc as an example it had voice chat the ability to create a chat room and launchcast and more. the mac version only has webcam support come on sign the patition and get all the features that the pc version has http://www.petitiononline.com/yahoomac/petition.html
and that's not the begining what about valve and half-life 2 there is also a patition for it to http://www.petitiononline.com/hl2mac/petition.html . and some of the other game makers/publishers need to start supporting the mac man how cool would it have been if mac had marrowind the elder scrolls.hell the mac is more than capable of running this stuff. what gives all we want is support support i tell ya

True. I only viewed this thread to post that no one is going to take you seriously if you don't put serious effort into this. This includes spelling simple words, such as 'petition', 'totally', and 'support', correctly (and that's only as far as I read).

I don't recall anyone flaming you for your spelling errors. I was just pointing out that spelling errors can quickly deter those that might have wanted to participate in this petition, and if you are serious about spreading the word, you might want to take a minute to Google words you are unsure of so that your post doesn't look so unprofessional.
We all spell words wrong now and again. If you want a tip, go to Google and enter the word to see if it is spelled correctly. If not, it will likely give you a suggestion as to what you were trying to spell. You can also enter define:word in the search field and make sure the definition matches what you were going for. :)

See this is why I never correct spelling.
You have many errors in your own post, technically.
Give the guy a break.

No one seriously flamed you, they merely pointed out that if you want to start a petition that you want to actually go somewhere you may need to put a bit more care into it.

lol that thread is hilarious.
iGary, like I said, everyone makes mistakes, it's not a big deal, but I think it's helpful to point out that if you want to be taken seriously, the bigger, more obvious mistakes should be avoided if possible.
Hell yeah, I make mistakes, mostly in grammar as I am careful about spelling, but me no like to be too picky. :D
Just tryin' to help "the guy". I'm done here. Best of luck with the petition, madmax_2069. :)

To see both sides of this:
Bad spelling is hard to read.
Complaining about bad spelling is annoying.
Online petitions never, ever, work.
Therefore, this thread should be locked and left far, far, away...
If you are using Safari, then you can use OS X's spell check. Edit->Spelling->Check Spelling as You Type

Name one online petition that has succeeded in getting a company to change their minds about something.
And I still think you're like a 12 year old kid

i dunno about company's like yahoo but if there is alot of people that sign it will show there is people that want to use there limited software if they update it
and showing valve how much money they are missing out on if they dont allow a half-life2 port for mac. hell there is like over 7 thousand sig's for hl2 port for mac. just guess how much money that would give valve if the did make a port of hl2 for mac. the same goes with alot of other software devlopers/producers. its just a way to show these people they would have more support for them if they would mace stuff for macintosh

If you have 9.2, then the extra .2 is a free upgrade from Apple.

Alright, so say EVERY SINGLE one of those 7,000 people buy it. At $100 each, that's $700,000. That's the salaries of about 15 people if they are paid $46,666.66 a year. Is that good for Valve to do that if it takes a team of 40 people two years to port it to OS X and then a team of 10 to support it for the next 5 years? Not really.

I seriously doubt it would take a team of 40 people 2 years to port the game. Create the game from scratch yes, but to port, no.

Well, they need to port the graphics engine for starters. That needs to be so fine tuned, it is amazing. With the Intel switch coming, why bother with PPCs just being a lost hole? And the physics engine, that also requires a great deal of work to be ported correctly. After the foundation has been laid for the game, the work can actually start on porting the game. This involves multiple compilations, multiple revisions of code, multiple Windows DLL file calls to be translated into OS X calls or the functionality of the DLL to be copied into the code, etc.
Then the alpha and beta testing. Making sure it all works. Then making sure that the overlays of Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat are able to be brought it without too much of a mess. That is part of the first step, making the engines and the base for the game. One they can have any game run on top of the engines, they need to make sure their games can do so correctly.
After it is all said and done, it can take two years and 40 people. It may not be 40 people at once, but it will involve 40 people at the minimum. Games are heavily dependent on hardware in Windows-- they can take shortcuts to run faster. Under OS X, games have to take a longer route. OS X is actually better because of various stability and corruption reasons, however the fact remains that there is a LOT of Win32 specific code in games and a LOT of that is nearly impossible to get to OS X without a rewrite from scratch.
