all hard drives are internal. the ones that say they are "external hard drives" are really just an internal hard drive, with an external enclosure. you can tell your friend to save some money by buying an internal hard drive, which they usually have on sale, and an external enclosure. you will end up saving quite a bit of money.

just go down to best buy or compusa and buy the one (any one) with a rebate... $49-$79 buys you a 200GB these days.
